As the Daily Herald Editorial Board met with Democratic candidate Kathie Allen, United Utah Party candidate Jim Bennett and Republican nominee John Curtis, it has been clear that the various parties have put up smart, qualified candidates that can actually compete against each other this season. We find that refreshing as so many elections are landslides for a singular party and barely generate necessary discussion.
This is their take on Dr. Kathie Allen:
Allen’s unique experience in the health care industry provides a valuable perspective that should not be ignored by Utahns or our representatives. We feel her motivation and passion for this office waned a little after Chaffetz resigned, initially planning to run against him in the next election. But, she is one of the strongest Democratic candidates we’ve had the chance to meet with in recent years.
